Carefully Illegal File Upload and Download

A few weeks ago, the home of a police raid rapidshare users. This relates to actions that licensed material uploaded Metallica's latest album Death Magnetic.

Quite surprising really, because as another album release, usually a new album the band or singer is uploaded to rapidshare, even one day before its official release. And as long as it does not matter because the uploader did not mention the use of IP addresses and distribute them directly through Rapidshare. This is presumably due to site-hosting service Rapidshare file was submitted personal data of people who upload licensed material to a major label, as reported by torrentfreak.com (04/25/09).

Disclosure of personal identity uploader is the application of copyright law that allows the German to urge the major label rapidshare to disclose data under the law. The legal basis is also allowed them to force ISPs to open the data file on a particular IP users.

While this may not happen in our country, this could be a warning to us to be more careful to have the sharing of copyright material.
